Zimborders was awarded a Build, Operate and Transfer project by the Republic of Zimbabwe for the expansion, upgrading, improvement and modernization of the Zimbabwean border post at Beitbridge. Raubex was appointed by Zimborders as the EPC Contractor to execute the construction works.
The project’s main purpose is to divert the N1 traffic around the town of Musina.

The project involves the provision of passing lanes on the Coolgardie Esperance Highway to improve road safety by providing safe passing opportunities. Coolgardie Esperance Highway is part of the major transport route to the Australian Eastern States so has a high proportion of heavy vehicles mixed with passenger vehicles.
The project includes the design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the upgrade to the Neerabup Groundwater Treatment Plant (GWTP). The upgrade will increase the capacity of the GWTP from 100 million litres per day to 150 million litres per day.
Construction of a 300,000m2 Vehicle distribution facility to store 12,500 vehicles, trucks and agricultural equipment, as well as a 5,500m2 commercial fitment centre to offer services such as pre-delivery inspections, Veridot and tracker systems etc.

The existing basecourse was strengthened by importation of additional material to form a cemented (C4) subbase. A new basecourse was then constructed from imported G2 crushed stone material.
The project, a lump sum contract - consisted of the demolition of an existing electrical security fence plus the supply and installation of an upgraded fenceand anti-tunnelling slab which surrounded a working electrical substation.
The new fence was 3.5m high and 1,400m long.
